Living in the Present

"Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment."

- Buddha

Many times, we spend our days worrying about what we will do tomorrow, or what we will be doing in the next few hours, but how often are we concentrating on what we are doing in that very moment.

We live in a world full of distractions. Having advertisements thrown at us, we hear about how to get a hold of the best lipstick, the best car, the best style, but very rarely do we hear about ceasing the day and being mentally healthy. Though it is nice to have all those things, one will find that they will be more satisfied when they are present in the moment. Giving more of their attention to ones state, actions, feelings and surroundings, we begin to notice the areas in which we need improvement. No longer do we choose to ignore them and let them burst out later, but we begin to really handle our situations. Take control of our lives. We begin to do some of our best work, when we take the time to concentrate on our task and finish things one at a time. Instead of worrying about the endless amount of work that needs to be done, we check things off a list. Be more aware of what is going on around you and yourself. We really only do get one chance on this earth, we must learn to spend our times wisely.

The past has already happened, and we can only affect our future by making the most of our present, so I encourage all to take 10 mins of your time everyday to do nothing. Too sit there, take in all that has occurred, soak it in and be more in touch with your life. Take each task one at a time, organize your schedule, make time for yourself and instead of spending hours on instagram admiring someone else's life, start to live your own. Take control of your situations and live every moment to it's fullest.
