In the past, one of our society's biggest goals was to be thin and skinny. Well, not anymore. Things have taken a turn, the new and improved goal is to be healthy and happy. Aiming at eating the right foods and staying active, our society is moving forward. Now, why is it important for us to make our best efforts to eat healthy? Well here are some few reasons why:
- It Increases Productivity
In order to go on about our day with enough energy, our body requires it’s fuel; food. Starting off the day with breakfast, our bodies will be able start off our metabolism for the rest of the day and bring up our concentration levels. Leaving it up to us to remain our body fueled by eating well portioned meals throughout the day to keep our metabolism running and enough energy to go on with the day.
- With Energy Comes Good Vibes
Knowing that food has an effect on the function our brain, it also affects your mood. We are all aware of the term Hangry: “When you are so hungry that your lack of food causes you to become angry, frustrated or both.” We have all been there, done that ! Let’s say NO MORE! And get down to grubbing. When we eat healthy foods, the right portions and at the correct times, we help our body maintain a stable blood sugar level. Placing us at a lower risk for depression, lower stress levels and less health problems, by moderating our cortisol levels that manage our stress hormones. Particular foods that help with this moderation are omega- 3s, fatty acids, protein-rich diets and magnesium.
- Healthier Living
Eating better not only improves our productivity and energy levels, but also nourishes our body. It provides our body the necessary nutrients like vitamins and minerals that are needed for our growth and repairing. There are many who are thin, but don’t necessarily get all of their nutrients or many who workout everyday, but don’t eat the proper foods to help their body grow and repair itself after a killer workout. With a healthy diet and exercise, we can begin to change the way our body functions, truly get results, perform our best and feel better.
- Eat at a regular schedule; don’t skip out on your meals
- Increase your activity. Get out there and get active: take a walk in the park, go for a nice run or a morning yoga class.
- Give yourself a cheat day. Healthy eating does not mean you have to deprive yourself from those delicious foods, just know yours limits.
